Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is the state capital and the region's employment center, with downtown, the University of Utah and the airport all inside the city limits. Salt Lake City School District covers the whole city, and students attend East, Highland or West High. It holds the oldest and most varied housing stock in the valley: Victorian and bungalow streets in the Avenues, 1950s brick ramblers in Rose Park, Craftsman homes in Yalecrest, and new condominiums filling in downtown, the Granary District and Central Ninth. The market moves neighborhood by neighborhood rather than as one city-wide trend. Liberty Park, dedicated in 1882, holds Tracy Aviary and a public pool, Sugar House Park and Memory Grove are close by, the Bonneville Shoreline Trail runs the foothills above the east bench, and the city operates six golf courses of its own. Three TRAX lines and the S-Line streetcar cover downtown, the university and the airport, and the Cottonwood canyons put Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude within an hour.
